A Comparison between Type-2 Diabetics and Non-Diabetics in Terms of Papillary Bleeding Index (PBI)

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to compare the Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients and non-diabetics in terms Papillary bleeding index (PBI) periodontal disease. METHODOLOGY: This comparative cross-sectional conducted during period November 2020 February 2021 three (3) tertiary care hospitals Peshawar. sampling technique purposive sampling. sample comprised 105 individuals, 56 participants Type–2 group 49 non-diabetes group. Male females, having age between 40-65 years were recruited. Each diabetic non-diabetic clinically examined for periodontitis. Age sex-matched suffering from periodontitis without a history as well with good glycemic control (HbA1c) considered controls subjects. Glycated hemoglobulin carried out all free cost by using Human Gmbh-Max-Planck-Ring 21-65205 Wiesbaden-Germany kit. approved ethical committee Peshawar Medical College. Data analyzed software package SPSS version 20. RESULTS: Out diabetics, 24 subjects brushed once daily, 15 twice 11 occasionally 6 didn’t brush whereas non 20 13 5 brush. clinical parameter mean recorded our study. Score 2.09 (±0.82) diabetics 1.02 (±0.47) non-diabetics. P-value measured chi square test significant. Spearman correlation performed explore association type (PBI). CONCLUSION: We concluded that significant difference exists PBI scores
